Legislative Support/Texas Architects Committee

TSA plays an active role in crafting and responding to legislation and regulations affecting the design and construction industries. Members are encouraged to take part in this effort by educating their legislators on issues impacting the profession and participating through TSA’s political action committee, the Texas Architects’ Committee (TAC).

Texas Architect Magazine

Texas Architect, the official publication of TSA, is published bi-monthly. Members receive a subscription for joining TSA. In addition to the member subscription, architect members receive a second Texas Architect subscription to be sent as a gift to whomever they choose.

Login Required Checkset

CheckSet, published bi-monthly, is TSA’s e-newsletter, focusing on information about Society activities, legislation, and regulatory matters.  It also includes listings of new firms, firm name changes, and promotions within firms, along with listings of new members and TAC contributions.

TSA Handbook

The Handbook, published in February, contains the yearly membership roster for TSA, along with listings of officers, directors, committees, bylaws, and other information.

Convention

The TSA Annual Convention is the Society’s yearly gathering for expanding and enhancing the practice of architecture. The Convention is a low-cost event for TSA architect, associate, intern, allied, and student members and provides the opportunity for continuing education and fellowship. The Design Products and Ideas Expo is the state’s premiere exhibition of design and construction products, services, and technologies. The 69th Annual Convention/Design Products & Ideas Expo will be held in Fort Worth, October 23-25, 2008.

www.texasarchitect.org

TSA has established an effective information system for architects and the public. TSA’s website includes news articles, online versions of Texas Architect and CheckSet, Society information, legislative information, links to laws that directly impact the practice of architecture, and other useful links. We hope you will check out our website frequently for the most up-to-the-minute information TSA provides.

The Shape of Texas

TSA's syndicated radio program broadcasts from several public radio stations across the state to raise public awareness of the value of architecture. The Shape of Texas features short profiles of buildings and places significant to the history and culture of Texas. Recent programs highlight San Antonio's Bexar County Courthouse, the Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells, and the Texas A&M Bonfire Memorial

Design Awards Program

The Society sponsors an annual design awards program for architects registered in Texas. Projects named as award recipients are published in Texas Architect and publicized to national and local press. TSA members receive a discount on entry fees.

Honor Awards Program

Each year since 1971 TSA has recognized individuals and organizations outside the profession of architecture who share its commitment to the quality of life in Texas. In addition, the Honor Awards Program recognizes TSA’s exceptional members in several categories and distinguished Texas architectural educators and writers for leadership and achievement.

Texas Architectural Foundation

TSA cooperates with a sister organization, the Texas Architectural Foundation (TAF), which provides grants and scholarships to students and programs of architecture in the state’s schools of architecture.  Members are eligible to contribute to TAF.
